Product details
Alpe Ivory brings a pale quartzite-inspired pattern to a matte porcelain tile. Its rectangular 12-by-24-inch catalog format can create long lines across a floor or a quieter stacked arrangement on a wall. The ivory finish gives you a light starting point for comparing grout, cabinetry and surrounding trim; inspect a physical tile because room lighting and screen settings affect how the color appears.
This listing is sold by the box, with 15.5 square feet of stated coverage. AHL lists eight tiles per box and an 8 mm thickness. Treat the 12-by-24 designation as nominal rather than a measurement of every tile. The published box coverage is the useful ordering figure: multiplying eight nominal two-square-foot rectangles would overstate the listed area.
Buying guide
Work from the box coverage
Measure each tiled area separately, including returns or small connected sections that will use this same tile. Divide your required area by the stated box coverage, then round up to whole boxes. Decide the additional allowance from your actual layout, cuts and spare-material needs. A room with many corners, diagonal cuts or narrow perimeter pieces can use material differently from a simple rectangle.
Keep the base room area separate from the allowance so the calculation is easy to review.
Choose a layout before ordering
Draw the room or wall with the long tile direction marked. A stacked layout and an offset layout place cut edges in different locations, especially around doors, niches and cabinets. Dry-lay several tiles near the most visible edge before settling on a starting point. The carton size alone does not establish a permitted offset or grout width; check the instructions supplied with the tile before committing to the pattern.
Compare ivory, grout and trim together
Hold a grout sample beside a physical tile and the adjoining surface. A grout color close to the tile can soften the grid, while a stronger difference makes the rectangular pattern more visible. Consider how the tile edge will finish where it meets paint, another floor or an exposed wall end. Confirm trim thickness and profile against the tile and planned setting bed instead of selecting only by color.
Check the order as a group
Before installation, open enough boxes to see the range of the pattern and compare carton markings. Set aside pieces with visible damage for review before using them. Plan where prominent markings will appear and how cut pieces will be distributed. If you want future repair material, choose the amount while this inventory is available rather than assuming an identical finish or batch will be easy to find later.
Worked ordering example: a box threshold
Suppose the main area is 88 square feet and a connected return adds 12, giving 100 square feet before cuts. Seven Alpe Ivory boxes at the stated 15.5-square-foot coverage supply 108.5 square feet. If your reviewed cut plan and desired spares instead bring the requirement to 110 square feet, seven boxes are short and eight supply 124. Keep those three figures visible: measured area, planned requirement and purchased coverage.
The ten extra square feet in this illustration are a chosen example, not a recommended allowance for every room. Check the stocked box label and contents before using this calculation for the order.
Installation & care
Plan the complete tiled surface
Porcelain tile is one component of a finished installation. The supporting surface, setting material, joints and any required water management must suit the project. A water-resistant tile does not, by itself, make a shower or other assembly waterproof. Confirm the intended location and installation system with the current product instructions and your installer.
Confirm dimensions before cutting
Use a physical tile to establish working dimensions, joint spacing and perimeter cuts. Check the height at adjoining floors and thresholds using the full proposed build-up. Avoid preparing every cut from the nominal title dimensions before the material has been checked.
Choose a compatible cleaning routine
Keep the tile and grout product instructions with your project information. Select a cleaner that is appropriate for both surfaces, and test it in an inconspicuous area before broad use. The matte appearance does not establish a special slip rating or authorize a particular chemical cleaner.
Keep a tile and cut record
After arranging the pattern, photograph the accepted layout and note where the most distinctive markings will sit. Record which boxes supplied the adjoining pieces and which whole tiles remain. Keep spare material with its carton information rather than loose in a mixed pile. That record helps an installer compare a future replacement with the nearby ivory pattern and determine whether a leftover piece is large enough for the required cut.
Product FAQs
Does each tile cover exactly two square feet?
The nominal 12-by-24 format suggests that rectangle, but the listing states a lower total for the box. Use the stated box coverage for ordering, then confirm the working tile dimensions and pack contents before installation.
Can I choose a shower-floor layout from the matte finish?
A matte appearance is a design detail, not proof of approval for every wet-floor location. Check the exact tile specification and the complete installation requirements before selecting it for a shower floor or exposed outdoor wet area.
How much extra material should I allow?
Base the allowance on the chosen pattern, perimeter cuts, breakage allowance and desired spares. Keep that allowance visible in your estimate; there is no single percentage that guarantees enough tile for every layout.
