Product details

Cristallo Tortora 3D Chiseled Deco, SKU CRTO-DECO-1224, is a matte textured porcelain tile in a nominal 12 x 24 format. Tortora is the taupe choice in this Cristallo palette. Compare the actual relief tile with warm beige and cool gray finishes before choosing grout. Plan how the texture meets flat painted areas and any plain tile, especially at eye-level borders and exposed wall ends.

AHL lists 17.01 square feet and ten pieces, while Ragno’s Chiseled Deco format table lists nine pieces and 17.00 square feet. Confirm the supplied package and model label; the manufacturer table is a reference for resolving this conflict, not a change to AHL commerce coverage. The published working dimensions are 11 13/16 in. x 23 5/8 in., with 8.5 mm thickness.

Use the listed carton coverage for ordering and a physical tile for the layout; rounded format dimensions are not a promise that each piece fills its nominal rectangle.

Buying guide

Draw the tile pattern before estimating

Measure the area and mark the long tile direction. A stacked field and an offset field place cuts differently around doorways, corners and other interruptions. Sketch the visible starting edge and compare where the last row lands. Choose any offset and joint width from the instructions for the exact tile.

Nominal format, rectification or a matte face alone cannot establish an allowed offset, a minimum joint or the completed assembly’s performance.

Compare face, grout and edge treatment

Place several physical Cristallo Tortora 3D Chiseled Deco tiles next to the proposed grout and surrounding finishes. A close grout color softens the joint grid; greater contrast emphasizes each rectangle. Check the trim profile against the tile and setting-bed build-up, especially where a tile edge remains exposed. A color match alone does not settle whether a bullnose or metal profile sits at the intended height.

Review the most visible cuts

Use the measured tile and planned joint spacing to map perimeter cuts. Centering the field can split the remaining width between two borders, while starting with a full tile can protect one focal edge. Compare those choices on the drawing before cutting. Keep the shape and location of each opening visible in the estimate: removing its area does not always eliminate the full pieces needed to make surrounding cuts.

Worked whole-carton example

Suppose the measured surface plus the reviewed cut and spare allowance requires 128 square feet. Using AHL’s 17.01 square feet per box, 7 boxes provide 119.07 square feet, while 8 provide 136.08. The smaller count is short. This arithmetic example is conditional on the supplied coverage and does not prescribe an allowance for every project. Confirm the stocked pack before converting box counts into a piece-by-piece cut map.

Keep carton identity with the layout

Check model, shade and production markings while reviewing the material. Lay out enough pieces to see the pattern range, then decide where the strongest markings should appear. Keep damaged tiles for review before installation instead of hiding them in cut areas. Save carton details with any repair pieces so a later replacement can be compared with the accepted field.

Installation & care

Review the complete installation system

Tile is one component of a finished surface. Have the installer choose the supporting surface, setting materials, joints and any required water management for the exact tile and location. The face material does not make an entire wet-area assembly waterproof. Include adjoining floor heights, wall edges and movement joints in the review before work starts.

Confirm dimensions with actual material

Measure a tile and trial-fit the proposed joint arrangement before preparing repetitive cuts. The nominal 12 x 24 label is for format comparison, not a substitute for working measurements. Where this tile joins another format, confirm that the actual sizes and joint spacing produce the intended alignment. Check the complete build-up at thresholds and exposed edges.

Select care for tile and grout together

Keep the applicable tile and grout instructions with the project. Choose cleaning products compatible with both surfaces and test them in an inconspicuous area. A matte or textured appearance does not authorize abrasive tools, a special chemical cleaner or a particular cleaning machine. Review how residue will be removed from the relief face and its recesses before broad application.

Product FAQs

Does each nominal rectangle give its full area?

Use the listed box coverage. Published tile dimensions are smaller than the rounded catalog format; joint arrangement and cuts also affect the layout. Confirm the carton and measured tile rather than replacing the published total with nominal-area multiplication.

Can I use this tile for any wet floor?

The selected format, finish and a collection name do not establish every wet-floor application. Obtain the exact tile’s intended-use information and confirm the whole installation system before choosing a shower floor, submerged use or exterior wet location.

How should I compare the deco with plain tile?

View the relief face beside the actual plain tile and planned edge trim. Compare color, thickness, pattern direction and lighting. Same-collection naming helps identify a palette but does not guarantee that the surfaces create a flush edge or share every approved application.

Should I use AHL or manufacturer pack counts?

Confirm the stocked carton before purchasing and planning individual cuts. The page’s commerce coverage remains the order-calculation reference; any source discrepancy is stated above so the package can be checked. Do not silently recalculate coverage from a different piece count.
