Product details

The Delta Contemporary Square Beverage Faucet, model 1940-RB-DST, provides a dedicated cold-water tap in Venetian Bronze. It is designed for use with reverse-osmosis systems, under-counter filtration systems or water chillers, and can also serve as a cold-water dispenser. A separate beverage faucet places drinking-water access beside the main kitchen faucet or at a pantry or bar sink.

This model is for cold water only and must not be connected to an instant-hot tank. The finish and contemporary square configuration identify this exact model when comparing other Delta beverage faucets.

A single lever controls the flow, and the spout rotates through 360 degrees so the outlet can be positioned around the sink. The model has an integrated air-gap arrangement for reverse-osmosis installations, with a 1/4-inch RO connection tube and a 3/8-inch drain tube. Delta specifies DIAMOND Seal technology and a ceramic-disc valve, along with an integrated supply connection using a 3/8-inch compression fitting.

The faucet mounts through one hole and stands 9-1/2 inches overall. Its published flow rating is 1.5 GPM at 60 PSI. Delta recommends at least 2-1/2 inches between the faucet and backsplash; allow for this space when planning the handle position. The model is ADA compliant.

Buying guide

Choosing this faucet

Use the complete model number 1940-RB-DST when comparing this cold-water beverage faucet with other fixtures. The finish suffix and feature suffixes help distinguish similar looking products, so compare the exact model rather than only the collection name. Decide whether this tap will serve a filtration system, a water chiller or a dedicated cold-water line.

Match the connection arrangement to that equipment; a beverage faucet is only one part of the drinking-water setup. The filter, membrane, storage tank and tubing have their own requirements. Use the product details and specifications above to narrow the choice, then compare the manufacturer drawing with the space where the fixture will be installed. Check the actual item photos and current listing information for the unit you are considering.

A model reference image shows the design; it does not establish the condition or contents of an individual item. Think about how the fixture will be used by everyone in the household, and where frequently used containers or dishes will sit during filling or rinsing.

Planning the sink layout

Position the drinking-water outlet over the bowl where bottles and glasses can sit securely. Check the distance to the main faucet, backsplash, soap dispenser and other countertop fittings. Leave room beneath the mounting hole for the beverage tubing and any drain connection required by the filtration system. A useful planning sketch shows the mounting position, bowl outline, nearby fittings and plumbing route.

Measure from the finished surfaces that will remain after the project, including tile, a new backsplash or a replacement countertop. Compare spout reach and overall height as separate dimensions; the height of the outlet is different again. Do not rely on the apparent size in a product photo. If covering unused mounting holes is part of the plan, check the exact accessory and its dimensions before drilling or ordering.

Keep enough space to tighten the mounting hardware and to reach the connections with suitable tools. Resolve fit questions before removing the existing fixture, particularly where the sink or countertop cannot easily be modified.

Installation & care

Installation and everyday care

Follow the installation instructions for 1940-RB-DST and the instructions for any connected equipment. Have the installer compare the site measurements, water connections and mounting arrangement before work begins. Identify the shutoff valves, protect the finished surfaces and inspect the existing supply connections. Use the specified fittings rather than forcing an adapter or changing a connection based on appearance.

After installation, check all accessible connections while the fixture is operating and again after it has been turned off. For everyday cleaning, start with a soft damp cloth and follow the finish care instructions for the exact model. Check the finish care instructions before using any cleaner or cleaning pad. Keep the outlet and moving controls free of accumulated residue using the approved cleaning method.

Treat installation and care as part of the complete sink or shower setup, including any connected drain, filtration or heating equipment.

Product FAQs

How do I plan access and future maintenance?

Keep the filtration tubing easy to identify and accessible for later service. Mark which line supplies treated water and follow the connected system instructions for its drain arrangement. Avoid compressing tubing behind stored items, and keep filter changes possible without disturbing the faucet mounting. Save the exact SKU, finish name and installation paperwork with the project records.

Photographs of accessible connections can help identify the arrangement later without dismantling finished surfaces. When a service part is needed, match the manufacturer part diagram for the exact model rather than choosing a visually similar component. Check for visible moisture after service, and inspect any area where tubing or a hose could rub against another object. If operation changes, consult the troubleshooting steps for this model before replacing unrelated parts.

Keep a record of any separately installed equipment and its model number as well. This makes future filter changes, plumbing service or fixture replacement easier to plan and helps the next person working on the installation understand how the components are connected.

What should I check before ordering?

Before ordering, compare the SKU 1940-RB-DST, finish name and configuration with the item you intend to replace. Read the current listing and inspect the available item photos, including close views where supplied. Confirm which parts are present with the actual unit: do not assume that the standard manufacturer package and an individual store listing have identical contents.

If an accessory is needed for your installation, identify its exact part number and check whether it must be purchased separately. Make a short checklist of the mounting fittings, connection fittings and other items your installer requires. Compare that checklist with the listing before arranging the work. Select the correct store view and check the current quantity and fulfillment choices there.

Bring the model number and installation measurements when asking about fit so the advice refers to the specific fixture and location.
