Product details
The LG STUDIO WDES9428F is a double wall oven with two 4.7-cu-ft cavities, totaling 9.4 cu ft. A 7-inch LCD glass-touch display and PrintProof Stainless Steel finish give the appliance a coordinated front for a built-in kitchen layout.
The upper oven provides steam assist, Steam Sous Vide and Air Fry alongside true convection. The lower oven also has true convection, but does not have steam assist. That difference is important when planning two dishes at once: the cavities offer generous separate cooking space, while their mode lists are not identical.
Both ovens have five rack positions and offer EasyClean and Self Clean. InstaView adds a window feature, and Wi-Fi/ThinQ supports connected controls. Consider the cooking methods together with the mounting height, open-door space and actual rack and accessory equipment. Manufacturer model information describes functions; it does not establish the contents or condition of an individual oven.
Buying guide
Assign cooking tasks to the appropriate cavity
Think through a larger meal and identify which dish needs a particular cooking mode, temperature or timing. The upper cavity's steam functions give it a distinct role, while both ovens can support convection tasks. Separate cavities can help when dishes need different conditions, but you still need to plan which cookware fits where and how each door will be accessed.
Compare the two 4.7-cu-ft spaces with your roasting pan, casserole and baking trays. That creates a clearer picture than treating the 9.4-cu-ft total as one continuous compartment.
Consider access to both ovens
Choose a mounting arrangement around the people who use the kitchen. Check the reach to the upper oven, the loading height of the lower cavity and the room needed to handle a heavy dish. Rack positions can help arrange cookware, but comfortable loading and unloading matter just as much as capacity. Include an island or adjacent cabinet run when assessing the working area.
If Air Fry or Steam Sous Vide is part of the decision, check the required equipment and the actual unit's accessories before choosing recipes around those functions.
Keep upper-oven equipment easy to identify
If steam-assisted cooking is a reason for choosing this model, keep the applicable upper-oven instructions and equipment together in the kitchen's cooking records. Mark which planned recipes use that cavity and which can use either oven under their recipe guidance. This helps a second cook avoid treating the lower oven as an identical steam-capable space.
Also decide where equipment will be stored when another method is used, rather than leaving it inside by default. Check the actual racks, probe and other pieces before planning a meal around them. The separate-cavity arrangement is most useful when its differences are easy to recognize during ordinary cooking.
Worked example: coordinate an upper-oven steam task
Assume a recipe assigned to the upper steam-capable oven has a 40-minute cooking period and another recipe suitable for the lower convection oven has a 25-minute period. If the recipes, equipment and model instructions permit the intended simultaneous use, starting the lower task 15 minutes after the upper task would make those assumed periods end together.
Add each recipe's preheating, preparation and resting requirements separately; the example is scheduling arithmetic, not a cooking instruction or guaranteed finish time. The important model distinction is that the steam task belongs in the upper cavity, while the lower cavity has no steam assist. Write the cavity assignment beside the mode and time so another cook does not move the steam recipe to whichever oven looks free.
Also mark when each dish needs checking and where it will land after removal. A schedule becomes useful when it respects the two cavities' differences as well as their matching 4.7-cu-ft capacities.
Installation & care
Compare standard and flush cabinet layouts
LG lists dimensions with the handle of 29.75 inches wide, 52.0625 inches high and 26.90625 inches deep. The open-door depth is 45.65625 inches. The standard minimum opening is 28.5 by 51.8125 by 24 inches, and a flush installation uses different dimensions. Have the installer review the exact drawing for the intended layout, cabinet support and electrical connection. Include handles and the door-opening path in the measurement process.
The nominal 30-inch class alone is not enough to decide whether an existing cabinet can be reused.
Plan cleaning for two separate cavities
EasyClean provides a light-cleaning choice, while Self Clean offers another approach to oven soil. Follow the model guide for preparing each cavity, rack and accessory before cleaning. Two ovens may be used differently, so assess their condition separately rather than assuming they always need the same care at the same time. Use compatible methods for the PrintProof finish, glass controls and window.
Learn the connected controls and local settings during setup, and keep the correct cooking equipment organized for its intended cavity.
Product FAQs
Do both ovens have steam assist?
No. The exact specifications identify steam assist in the upper oven and no steam assist in the lower one. Assign a recipe needing the steam function to the appropriate cavity.
How is the total 9.4-cu-ft capacity arranged?
It is divided into two 4.7-cu-ft ovens. Review the dimensions and rack arrangements of each cavity when comparing cookware and multi-dish meal preparation.
Does an InstaView feature replace checking the food?
It provides another way to look into the oven. Continue to follow the recipe and model's cooking instructions, including appropriate checks for the method and food being prepared.
What should I confirm about the racks and probe?
Check the actual unit's contents and the model's required equipment for your intended cooking modes. Manufacturer accessory lists for a new appliance do not prove which pieces accompany this individual double oven.
Can a steam recipe simply be moved to the lower oven?
The lower oven is not documented with the upper cavity's steam-assist functions. Use a recipe and mode appropriate to the selected cavity instead of assuming the same dish can keep its steam instructions below. If a different method is desired, follow suitable recipe guidance and the model instructions rather than inventing a conversion from the feature names.
The two ovens both offer true convection, but that shared capability does not make their full mode lists identical. Keep the upper-oven equipment and recipe notes easy to identify, especially when the two spaces are being used during the same meal.
