Product details

The LG WD100CW SideKick is a white 1.0-cu-ft pedestal washer for select compatible 27-inch LG front-load washers. It adds a separate wash compartment below the main washer, allowing a small custom-care load to be considered alongside a larger independent load.

Six programs include Normal, Intimates, Hand Wash, Active Wear, Rinse + Spin and Tub Clean. Warm and Cold temperature choices, Extra Rinse and Child Lock provide additional controls. The model uses a Direct Drive motor and NeveRust stainless steel drum, with a maximum 700-rpm spin speed.

Unlike a storage pedestal, this accessory is an operating washer with its own installation needs. LG lists dimensions of 27 inches wide, 14.125 inches high and 30.75 inches deep, extending to 50.5 inches with the drawer open. Confirm the exact main-washer compatibility, connections and full opening space before choosing it for a laundry room.

Buying guide

Identify the small loads that need separate care

Think about the clothing groups you often wait to wash because they do not fill the main drum. The SideKick's 1.0-cu-ft compartment can provide a separate place for an appropriate small load, subject to the garment labels and program instructions. Compare those groups with the available Intimates, Hand Wash or Active Wear settings rather than assuming one special-care program suits every delicate item.

Consider whether separate washing helps your regular routine and whether the items fit the permitted loading for the chosen cycle.

Compare the accessory with a storage pedestal

Both occupy space below a compatible appliance, but they serve different purposes. A SideKick adds a separate wash task; it does not provide the same laundry-supply storage as a drawer pedestal. Consider where detergents and baskets will go after that choice. Review how comfortably you can load the main washer after it is raised and how you will reach the SideKick's drawer.

If simultaneous independent loads are useful, confirm the approved main-washer combination and plan the complete laundry process around both appliances' instructions. If a main-washer replacement is planned later, include SideKick compatibility in that future comparison. Choosing a pedestal washer ties the complete arrangement to approved appliance combinations as well as the room's available space.

Plan two loads as separate laundry decisions

Choose a typical main-washer load and a small group intended for the SideKick, then compare both with their respective garment and program instructions. The benefit of separate operation is that each group can be assigned its own appropriate task, rather than adding a few unsuitable items to the larger load just to wash everything together. Keep the detergents and loading guidance for the two washers distinct.

Think through when each load will be removed and where the small items will go next, including any drying method their care labels require. Simultaneous washing does not establish identical finish times or shared settings. The 1.0-cu-ft compartment and programs are useful when those independent decisions fit the household's routine.

Include the person using the lower drawer in the room review so the extra task remains convenient after the compatible main washer is mounted above it.

Installation & care

Check compatibility and drawer-opening depth

Give the installer WD100CW and the complete main-washer model number. A 27-inch LG washer is not automatically compatible solely because the nominal widths match. Review the approved mounting arrangement, water and drainage connections and the electrical requirements. Include the 50.5-inch open-drawer depth when measuring the room, along with doors, baskets and nearby cabinets.

Use the complete appliance-and-pedestal arrangement for height and access planning so the added washer remains usable after the main unit is installed above it.

Follow the dedicated washer's care routine

Use the exact guide for detergent selection, loading and the SideKick's programs. Tub Clean is a dedicated maintenance choice, distinct from an ordinary laundry cycle. Keep the drawer, lid and seals accessible for the prescribed care, and check for small items after a load. The lighting or programs on the main washer do not establish the settings available below it.

Familiarize yourself with the SideKick's own controls and cycle guidance so both compartments are used for appropriate loads and equipment stays organized.

Keep the SideKick controls and maintenance visible

Give the pedestal washer its own place in the laundry records with WD100CW, the confirmed main-washer model and the matching guide. Identify the program and option controls on the actual lower unit rather than assuming they mirror the appliance above. Keep Tub Clean information separate from the garment-cycle plan and follow LG's instructions for the dedicated maintenance routine.

During the layout review, check that baskets or stored supplies will not obstruct access to the lower drawer, lid and seals. The 50.5-inch open-drawer depth is a planning measurement; it should be considered with the complete mounted pair and the room's normal use. If the main washer is changed later, revisit the approved combination and connections before treating the SideKick as a permanently interchangeable base.

Product FAQs

Can it be installed below any 27-inch washer?

No universal compatibility is stated. LG identifies select compatible front-load models. Check the complete main-washer number and the approved installation arrangement before purchase.

Is it a storage drawer?

It is a separate 1.0-cu-ft washing compartment. Compare it with a storage pedestal according to whether the laundry room needs additional washing capability or supply storage.

Can the two washers handle separate loads?

TWINWash supports simultaneous independent loads with a compatible main washer. Choose each load and program according to that appliance's instructions and the garment-care labels.

How much room does the drawer need?

LG gives a 50.5-inch depth with the drawer open. Include that measurement in the room layout and use the installation instructions for the remaining connection and clearance requirements.
