Product details

Delta Arvo 142840-SP-I is a Monitor 14 Series shower-only configuration in SpotShield Brushed Nickel. Its In2ition shower combines a fixed head with a detachable hand shower. The two outlets can operate individually or together, letting the hand shower provide directed rinsing while the fixed portion remains available for an overhead spray during bathing. Compare the installation drawing with the existing mounting area before selecting related components.

The listed patterns are Full Body, Full Spray with Massage, Massage, and Pause. Pause reduces water to a trickle rather than completely shutting off the supply. Soft Touch-Clean spray holes support wiping away mineral deposits from the spray face. The SpotShield finish helps resist water spots and fingerprints on the visible shower components during ordinary bathroom use.

Delta lists a maximum flow of 1.75 gallons per minute at 80 PSI and WaterSense labeling. The standard manufacturer configuration includes the trim, shower assembly, arm and flange, handle, and MultiChoice rough-in valve. Its pressure-balanced Monitor control operates temperature through one handle, with a maximum rotation of 120 degrees, and the model supports back-to-back installation. Confirm all installation measurements before ordering related components.

Buying guide

Choosing this product

Start by deciding what you want this shower kit to improve: daily convenience, a worn component, a better layout, or a coordinated bathroom appearance. Write down the two changes that matter most. That makes it easier to compare relevant options without letting the photograph or finish become the only reason for choosing a model.

For a replacement, photograph the existing installation and record the current model before removing anything. A familiar appearance can hide important differences in mounting or connections. For a renovation, give your installer the exact product number early, while changes to the surrounding layout are still straightforward and before finishing materials are ordered.

Plan a shower kit around its controls and outlet arrangement, then compare the finish and visual style. Decide whether you need a complete new installation or an upgrade to an existing system. A kit with a rough-in valve can involve work behind the wall, so factor that into the project before choosing finishing materials. For a shower replacement, identify which installed parts will stay and which will change.

Compare the valve identification with the trim instructions before arranging work on the finished wall. Consider how the controls are reached from outside the direct spray and whether the hand shower can be lifted comfortably from its support. For a tub-and-shower project, identify the function of each outlet and compare the planned arrangement with the exact trim instructions.

Keep the tub spout connection separate from the shower arm connection in the installation notes. Where a model is sold without a shower head, select that component from its own specifications and check the intended flow and connection arrangement before the work is scheduled.

Planning the fit and layout

Measure the actual installation area rather than estimating from a product photograph. Record the available space, nearby obstructions, and the position of anything the shower kit must connect to. Include access around the installation, since a component that fits its opening may still be awkward to use or difficult to service once installed.

Consider every person who will use the space and how they approach the fixture during an ordinary day. Try the intended movement before committing to the location. A simple cardboard outline or removable tape can help compare positions without drilling, moving plumbing, or making a permanent mark on a finished surface.

Record the valve location, shower outlet height, wall thickness, and access available behind the installation. Think about how each user reaches the control and where the spray falls. If a hose is part of the shower arrangement, include its movement in the plan. Have the installer compare these measurements with the exact rough-in drawing. Mark the normal path into and out of the shower on the planning sketch.

Check where the hose would rest and whether it could cross that path. Keep the control, support bracket and outlet positions clear of shelving or other fittings, using the mounting instructions to establish the required spacing.

Installation & care

Installation and everyday care

Read the instructions for the exact model before starting work, and check whether the existing installation provides the required support or connections. Lay the components on a protected surface and compare them with the instructions. If an unfamiliar step affects plumbing, electrical work, wall structure, or waterproofing, arrange appropriate help before proceeding.

Plan a cleaning routine that protects the finish and the surrounding materials. Start with the manufacturer's current care directions and use a soft cloth for ordinary wiping. Avoid choosing a cleaner solely because it works elsewhere in the bathroom. Keep tools, abrasive pads, and loose metal parts from scratching visible surfaces during installation.

Arrange the plumbing work before completing the wall finish, and follow the specified rough-in depth and connection requirements. The installer should flush and test the system as directed before placing it into use. Keep a record of the valve identity. Protect the trim during construction and use the approved cleaning directions after installation. After installation, test the operating settings using the manufacturer instructions and inspect each accessible connection.

Check the hand shower support and hose movement before regular use. Keep the model and valve identification together with the plumbing records so future service refers to the installed components.

Product FAQs

How do I plan access and future maintenance?

Save the product number, installation instructions, and a few clear photographs in your household maintenance records. Include the location of any relevant access panel or connection. These notes can help a future installer identify the component without dismantling the area first, especially after the original packaging or renovation paperwork has been discarded.

Pay attention to changes during ordinary use, such as movement, an unfamiliar sound, a leak, or a control that becomes harder to operate. Compare the change with the model's maintenance instructions before adjusting anything. Address a developing problem while access is available, and use confirmed replacement parts rather than selecting by appearance alone.

Keep the valve and trim model numbers together for future service. If the control action or water temperature changes, follow the exact maintenance procedure rather than substituting an unverified cartridge. Inspect visible connections during cleaning. Preserve access to serviceable areas and document any replacement part fitted during later plumbing work or a remodel.

What should I check before ordering?

Use the full model number when confirming an order, including every finish suffix. Product families often contain similar-looking versions with different fittings or functions. Compare the listing's written identification with your project notes, and resolve any uncertainty about compatibility before scheduling installation or discarding a component that may still be needed.

If you need additional pieces, make a separate list and confirm each one against the exact manufacturer's documentation. A coordinated photo can show a finished arrangement without establishing what is supplied with a particular listing. Ask about the actual item and its documented contents whenever the project depends on a small fitting or fastener.

Check whether the written model description includes a rough-in valve or identifies a trim-only product. Similar collection names can cover both. Confirm the actual item and its pieces before ordering related fittings. Discuss any proposed reuse of an existing valve with the installer, using its exact identity and the manufacturer's compatibility information.
