Product details

The Savoy House Builder Specialty 52-FAN-5W-SN pairs a satin nickel motor housing with five white blades in a 52-inch span. The two finishes give you a simple way to coordinate the fan with a light ceiling and nearby nickel-toned hardware.

The model uses pull-chain speed control and a reversible motor. Compare the control position, ceiling height and mounting arrangement with the room where it will be installed. The 52-inch span describes the sweep of the blades, not the distance the fan hangs below the ceiling.

Plan lighting separately. The documented model treats a fan light as an optional component, so the base fan should be evaluated alongside the room's existing lights and any compatible accessory you intend to add.

Buying guide

Compare the finishes from the room

Look at the ceiling, walls and fixed hardware together before choosing the fan finish. White blades and satin nickel housing do not create the same visual effect as a fan with dark wood-look blades. Think about whether you want the blade area to blend with a pale ceiling or remain a visible feature.

Compare the actual finish with the room's lights and cabinet hardware instead of expecting every nickel finish from different brands to match exactly.

Measure the full mounting relationship

Record ceiling height and the positions of nearby cabinets, beams and light fixtures. Then check the actual mounting instructions for the ceiling-to-blade relationship in the configuration you plan to use. A blade span is a horizontal reference; it does not answer the vertical-clearance question. The documented mounting choices include downrod and hugger formats, but suitability for your ceiling should be confirmed before choosing the arrangement.

Plan the control location

The model uses a pull chain for three speeds. Consider whether the controls will be conveniently reached from the normal approach to the room and how the wall switch will be used. If you want a different control arrangement, check exact model compatibility and the components required. An optional-control listing should not be treated as proof that a remote or receiver is included with the actual fan.

Choose a lighting plan

Decide whether the room will use its existing lights or a compatible fan light. The fan's optional light arrangement means those are separate decisions. Consider the visual position of the fan relative to other ceiling fixtures and the activities that need illumination. Confirm the accessory model and actual components before making the fan the centerpiece of a lighting plan.

A generic light kit may not match the mechanical or electrical arrangement.

Use the blade radius to organize the ceiling sketch

A 52-inch span implies a nominal 26-inch radius from the center to the outer sweep. Mark that circle on a ceiling sketch to see how the fan relates visually to beams, cabinet positions and other lights. This is a layout aid, not an approved obstacle-clearance figure. Have the installer compare the actual fan and the manual's required clearances with the finished room.

Mark the intended mounting configuration separately because the circle does not show how far the blades will sit below the ceiling. In a room with white ceilings, also look at the satin nickel center from the usual seating position; the pale blades and metallic housing contribute differently to the appearance. Keep the pull-chain reach and the chosen lighting arrangement on the same drawing.

If the ceiling or floor will be altered during renovation, record the proposed finished levels as well as the current ones. The final mounting review should use the room that will exist after those changes.

Installation & care

Use the fan's own mounting guidance

Have the proposed ceiling position and support reviewed using the correct installation manual. The family guidance calls for at least seven feet between the blade trailing edge and the floor. Check the complete unit and its mounting components together, including the configuration appropriate to your room. Do not finalize the position from a product photograph or from the fan's nominal span alone.

Keep operating and care references

Retain the model number, mounting paperwork and any added light or control identification. The reversible motor should be changed only with the blades stopped, following the manufacturer's instructions. Use the same manual for cleaning and routine checks. These records are also useful if you later change the room's lighting or need to identify a component without taking another fan's visually similar parts as a match.

Product FAQs

What color are the blades?

This exact model is documented with white blades and a satin nickel housing. It is distinct from the chestnut-blade Builder Specialty version.

Does 52 inches describe hanging height?

No. It is the blade span. Confirm the vertical dimensions and floor clearance for the actual mounting configuration.

Is a light kit included?

The model documentation treats the light as optional. Review the actual AHL components and identify a compatible kit if lighting is part of the plan.

Can it be used outdoors?

The exact retailer identifies indoor dry-location use. Do not extend that information to an outdoor or damp location.
